As a little girl, I grew up visiting my grandparent’s cottage every summer on the beautiful South Carolina coast. I always looked forward to playing in those inviting ocean waves and dipping my toes into the warm velvety sand.
Have you ever built a HUGE sandcastle?! My sister and I would have contests to see who could build the biggest and the best! Of course, I ALWAYS won! Those were some really FUN times!
Then, SOMETHING HAPPENED! I grew up and went to college and became so busy with my life that I didn’t have time to visit quite as often.
That happiness and excitement I felt as a child just evaporated in the rush to be at work by 8:00 every morning, meet project deadlines, and pick my children up from daycare or school on time. I went to bed, woke up at 5:30 a.m. and repeated this day after day like so many other people do!
Seven years ago, I was finally at the place in my life where my children were grown and I wanted to find a way to give some joy to others! That’s how Coastal Cottage was born!
I wanted to create a place where people could come and truly forget about the worries and cares of their day-to-day lives – a place where they could find some peace and serenity by the sea.
